I don't know what's in the water over in Greece, but those guys come up with some pretty different interpretations of rock and roll and some clever amalgamations of various genres. I've never even been to Greece, but the music of Scab Level just seems to fit perfectly with the photos I've seen of white sand, turquoise water, and ancient ruins: music that is calming, yet upbeat, and substantially more intricate than its easy-on-the-ears façade lets on. There's a strong Caribbean-influenced ska underpinning to Scab Level, with a distinctly European aproach that carries its own sense of what pop ought to sound like. "Peaches" boasts lots of hooks, but in a very effortless sort of way that asserts that Scab Level aren't trying to be a pop band. Their execution is so casual, and texture somewhat lo-fi, that some listeners accustomed to polished and primped power-pop might be put off by this album.

"Peaches" is a deceptive one for sure; Scab Level will tease you into thinking they're a Specials-influenced ska band at one point, coming from a pure guitar pop angle the next, and then go off in a lo-fi garage punk direction from there. And that's not even getting into the traces of jazz and unpredictable instrumentations scattered in a few places just to keep listeners on their toes. It may not sound like digestable beach music to the ears of Sublime or Jack Johnson fans, but really, it's not that far off, as strange as it may seem. Musical indecisiveness has never been so easy to listen to.

Wow, this sounds really fresh and grooves like hell. I never heard of Scab Level, but now I heard "Peaches" and it saved my day...the sun is shining, it´s weekend and a case of beer...what do you more. It´s hard to describe the music of Scab-Level...is it Ska, is it Punk, is it Alternative...hmm...maybe it´s a perfect mix out of all these genres...who cares...the major reason why I like Scab Level so much is that the have fantastic melodies in their songs and the groove in their blood and the lyrics are funny too...this is a summer album and even if it´s winter "Peaches" sure can cure every winter depression. Happiness banned on CD. Highly recommended to fans of Ska, Punk and just good music.

Αυτό μάλιστα, άριστα δέκα ακούω και βάζω και δυο τόνους δίπλα σε αυτό που ακούω (έτσι για να συμμετέχω κι εγώ στο θέμα).
Άριστα για τους τίτλους των tracks, μπράβο για τους (αναπάντεχους και γεμάτους εκπλήξεις) ήχους, ξαναμπράβο για τα στιχάκια και άριστα για το ska punk μουσικού (και αισθητικού) "look" αυτού του αλμπουμακίου το οποίο μου έφτιαξε τη μέρα.
Μου έφτιαξε τη μέρα, λέω, διότι έχει χιούμορ, είναι ευφυές, καταρτισμένο στα "θέματά" του και λίαν εύηχο.

Εδώ μέσα, παιδί μου, θα ακούσεις από μελωδική ποπ μέχρι τζαζ και από ska μέχρι θόρυβο (ωραίο θόρυβο όμως). Θα ακούσεις επίσης μια πολύ ωραία φωνή να ερμηνεύει με άποψη, στιλ και ουσία. Και τι άλλο να σου πω; Ότι η μουσική είναι γαμώ (όπως λέει και το δελτίο τύπου) και τι σε νοιάζει τώρα εσένα αν λέγεται ska ή spa? Μπες μέσα, με το κεφάλι όμως, και βλέπεις..
